How is the IOSH Working Safely Online eLearning Course Assessed?
How the IOSH Working Safely Assessment Works
To successfully complete the IOSH Working Safely course and earn the official IOSH certificate, learners must complete two short online assessments at the end of the course:
- Multiple-Choice Knowledge Test
Learners answer a series of multiple-choice questions to assess their understanding of key health and safety concepts covered throughout the course. This test is completed online immediately after the learning modules. - Hazard Spotting Exercise
Learners are shown a workplace scenario image and must identify potential hazards. This practical exercise tests their ability to apply what they’ve learned in a realistic setting.
Both assessments are completed online and are automatically submitted through the Compassa platform. Results are reviewed and verified, and successful learners will receive an official IOSH Working Safely certificate.
No exams, no stress — just practical, accessible assessment designed for real-world understanding.
Two attempts at the assessments are included with the course.
IOSH Working Safely Online Assessment
This is completed online and is not invigilated. It is carried out on Compassa’s eLearning platform.
It is made up mainly of multiple choice questions and drag/drop activities.
You have 45 minutes to finish the online test.
The pass mark is 60%.
Once you have passed online test, there is no need to resit it if you fail the practical project.
If you fail the test, you are required to retake it.
