Description

Why training for Health and Safety Committee members?

The H&S Committee is one of the core groups at the centre of employee consultation and decision-making. It’s important that each member of the H&S Committee, whether an employee safety representative or a management representative, has a foundation of health and safety knowledge so the whole group can contribute and participate effectively during the committee meetings.

Both Trade Union and Non-Union Health and Safety Representatives often lack the knowledge and skills required to engage effectively with their colleagues, meaning they struggle to properly represent their views at the H&S Committee meetings.

Content of the Health and Safety Committee Training

  • Awareness of your organisation’s hazards and risks, including physical safety, health, mental health, and wellbeing.

  • Appropriate and inappropriate topics for discussion e.g. not a talking shop for airing employment grievances

Our Accreditations

“Having completed a lot of health and safety eLearning courses over the years I found this to be the most informative but entertaining at the same time. My interest was held throughout the IOSH Managing Safely course. By being involved, constantly in actually doing something, I learnt more quickly and absorbed the content at all times.”

Alison Davis Post-Room Assistant, Wilkin Chapman Solicitors

“My success is absolutely down to your excellent standard of instruction, and the way that you taught us. You taught us Health and Safety very thoroughly and you ensured that we understood it – you did not treat it as a cramming exercise, just to pass an exam. Consequently: even a couple of months later, I can still clearly visualise many of the examples and cases that you quoted, in order to bring a rather dry subject to life. I am delighted; my wife is amazed.”
